'I was panicking as she was shouting that I needed to get to medical,' Alex recalled, admitting she was in a state of shock despite being aware of the risks posed by ticks and leeches.

The urgent return was to support her partner, singer Jess Glynne, whose mother had suffered a major stroke and undergone brain surgery.
