Chloe Lewis Provides Heartbreaking Update on Son's Ice Skating Injury
Former The Only Way Is Essex star Chloe Lewis has shared a major and emotional update regarding her young son Beau, following a horrific ice skating accident on New Year's Eve that resulted in his finger being severed. The reality television personality, who appeared on TOWIE from 2015 to 2019, disclosed that her six-year-old son may require a second operation as part of his ongoing recovery process.
Details of the Accident and Immediate Aftermath
In a series of Instagram posts, Chloe Lewis recounted the terrifying incident that occurred while Beau was ice skating. She explained that he fell over and another skater accidentally ran over his finger with bladed skates, completely slicing it off. The distressed mother received a phone call at 2pm on New Year's Day that no parent ever wants to receive, informing her of the terrible accident.
"I'm not even sure how I got into the car and drove the 45 minutes to him," Chloe revealed. "It was all a complete blur. When I arrived, he was wrapped up in a silver medical blanket. His little face melted my heart."
Beau was immediately blue-lighted to The Royal London Hospital where medical staff conducted X-rays and assessments. He underwent surgery that lasted approximately three and a half hours, with Chloe describing the experience of watching her child being put to sleep as "probably the worst thing I've ever experienced."
Current Recovery Status and Possible Second Operation
Despite the traumatic experience, Chloe reported that the initial surgery went well according to the plastic surgeon. However, she has now revealed that Beau might need another operation following further medical evaluation. In a recent Instagram update, she captioned a video: "All went well, MRI booked as they need to check some things. He might need another operation."
Remarkably, Beau appears to be handling the situation with remarkable resilience. In photographs shared by his mother, the young boy can be seen smiling cheerfully while wearing a grey tracksuit, black jacket, and blue woolly hat. Chloe added in her post: "We need a holiday," capturing the emotional toll the incident has taken on the family.
Advocacy for Safety Legislation Changes
The harrowing experience has prompted Chloe Lewis to take action to prevent similar accidents from occurring to other children. She has started a government petition calling for compulsory protective gloves for children while ice skating, with the goal of reaching 100,000 signatures to trigger a parliamentary debate.
"As I'll never be able to bring his finger back, I'd love all your support in helping me change the Law to stop this happening to other children," Chloe stated passionately. "I hope one day I can tell Beau I changed the law because of him."
The reality star emphasized that she shared the painful story not for attention but to raise awareness and potentially help other families avoid similar tragedies. She reflected on how the incident has made her appreciate how precious life is and how everything can change in mere seconds.
Chloe welcomed Beau with her ex-partner Danny Flasher, though the couple parted ways in November 2023. The mother-son duo continues to navigate the recovery journey together, with Chloe documenting both the challenges and small victories along the way.
