Hollywood star Chris Hemsworth has sustained an injury while enjoying a family surfing holiday in Fiji. The 42-year-old actor, best known for playing Thor, revealed a significant gash on his right leg in a photo posted to social media on Wednesday.
Family Holiday Takes a Painful Turn
The actor's social media post documented both the unfortunate injury and the idyllic family getaway. Alongside the image of his wounded leg, Hemsworth shared a series of snaps featuring his wife of 15 years, Spanish actress Elsa Pataky, 49, and their three children: 13-year-old daughter India Rose, and 11-year-old twin sons Sasha and Tristan.
The extended Hemsworth clan was also present for the tropical escape. Chris's brothers, Luke and Liam, joined the trip alongside their 71-year-old father, Craig Hemsworth. One heartwarming picture captured a playful moment between Chris and his lookalike daughter India as they carried surfboards into the water. Another showed the actor and Elsa in festive Santa hats, while a more intimate photo featured Elsa in a bikini resting on her husband's shoulder.
Balancing Stardom with Family Life
The Fiji holiday comes after Chris Hemsworth recently spoke candidly about the foundations of his long-term marriage to Elsa Pataky. Appearing on Jay Shetty's On Purpose podcast, the Australian star attributed their lasting union to "having fun" and maintaining an "adventurous spirit."
He confessed that the most challenging periods arise when work and parenting schedules overwhelm the relationship. "The complicated times have been when it's been all work, all kids, and all of a sudden the 'us' in the relationship is... sort of non-existent," Hemsworth explained. He emphasised that deliberately "making time for one another" and "making each other laugh" has been crucial to their success.
A United Front Amid Speculation
Despite frequent rumours about their relationship, the couple presented a united front last November at a screening for the Disney+ documentary A Road to Remember. The film, produced by National Geographic, chronicles his father Craig's experience with early-onset Alzheimer's.
Reflecting on the project on Instagram, Chris paid tribute to his parents' vulnerability. "This project was unlike anything I've been a part of," he wrote, expressing particular gratitude to his mother and father. The Fiji holiday appears to be another chapter in the Hemsworth family's commitment to spending quality time together, even if it occasionally results in a surfing scar for its most famous member.
