Coronation Street could be bringing back a soap favourite in a major Dev Alahan twist, according to a new fan theory. Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) has been a staple on the soap since 1999, and his time in Weatherfield has been filled with drama, from relationships to his marriage with late wife Sunita (Shobna Gulati). Recently, Dev was left saddened when his daughter Asha (Tanisha Gorey) revealed she was moving out of his flat above the shop. Dev was shocked initially, but Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) stepped in to move in with Asha, and in Thursday's episode (June 25), Dev struggled to adjust to the idea of Asha not living with him.
Fans Predict Amber's Return
Now, fans are convinced Dev's other daughter Amber Kalirai (Nikki Patel) could make her cobbles comeback after 14 years. “I would love to see Amber again, Dev's daughter and her family it would be brilliant,” said one person on a Coronation Street Facebook fan page. Another agreed: “Would be great! I think they’ll bring her back.” A third chimed in: “Good actress & character.” Echoing their thoughts, another declared: “Me too, she was a great character.”
Amber's History on the Street
Viewers will recall that Amber was the daughter of Dev, born through an affair with one of his shop workers. She first arrived on November 9, 2005, when her mum Ravinder (Mina Anwar) was taken into hospital, and she was looked after by Sunita and Dev. Dev initially did not want Amber in his life as he was married to Sunita, but he warmed to her, and she came to live with him after Ravinder moved to Finland with her partner. Amber left for university in London but returned in 2011 and moved back in with Dev and Sunita. Sophie Webster (Brooke Vincent) struck up a strong friendship with Amber, and on a drunken night out, Amber kissed Sophie, leading to Sophie developing feelings for her. Amber started to clash with Sunita, causing a rift between her and Dev, and she left the street in 2012 to go back to London, not seen since.
