David Harbour has spoken publicly for the first time about his ex-wife Lily Allen's revealing album West End Girl, which chronicles the breakdown of their marriage. The Stranger Things actor, who separated from Allen in early 2025 and later filed for divorce, addressed the album in a new interview with Variety.
Harbour described the experience as 'weird' but acknowledged Allen's right to create art from personal experiences. 'I do believe that it is the privilege of every artist to use their experience to create art, and so I respect her for doing that,' he said. However, he declined to discuss specific claims, stating, 'I just won't speak about that.'
When asked if he wished to challenge any allegations on the album, Harbour replied: 'Stories are complex... It wasn't my experience.' Allen herself has described the album as 'a mixture of fact and fiction' in an interview with Vogue, adding that it was 'inspired by what went on in the relationship.'
The album, which The Guardian's Alexis Petridis called 'an act of unstoppable personal exorcism,' has been a commercial success, leading to a concert tour. Allen is also in talks to develop a play based on the songs.
Harbour also addressed recent tabloid reports of a dispute with Stranger Things co-star Millie Bobby Brown, calling the timing 'weird' and denying any lasting tension. 'You'll see more of me and Millie – 10 years wasn't enough,' he said, adding that they resolved their disagreement privately.
