Denise Van Outen has opened up about what it's really like to work with her Celebrity Gogglebox co-star Johnny Vaughan, revealing that despite their differing TV tastes, they never argue over what to watch.
Denise and Johnny's TV Tastes
The presenter and actress, who first joined the Channel 4 show in 2019 alongside her then-partner Eddie Boxshall, now appears regularly with her former Big Breakfast co-host. Speaking on behalf of Sky Vegas, Denise admitted: "We have our favourite things that we like to watch, but we never argue about them because we share the remote control."
She added: "I'm not a big fan of horror films because I get quite scared, and Johnny likes watching me get scared. It makes him laugh because I tend to scream quite a lot. When we watch horror movies, I'm clinging on to him and trying to hide my eyes."
Uncomfortable TV Moments
Denise also confessed she finds watching uncomfortable moments on reality TV difficult, referencing the Adam Thomas and Jimmy Bullard incident on I'm A Celebrity South Africa. "I find it very hard to watch when reality shows become uncomfortable like that," she said.
"I think a lot of people love it because everybody likes to eavesdrop on people's dramas, and I know that more than anybody because I've worked on TOWIE for 16 years. But I felt that, at times, it was uncomfortable. What I don't like seeing is people upset, because it upsets me. I try not to get too involved in it."
She noted that the controversy sparked discussions about acceptable behaviour, but personally found it a difficult watch.
Future Reality Show Plans
When asked about future reality TV appearances, Denise expressed interest in Celebrity Bake Off. "I've never really baked and I like cooking. I think that would be a fun one," she said. "I like doing reality shows where you learn something. I think it's good to learn a skill. I also did The Great Pottery Throw Down, which is airing this year, and I loved learning how to make things and work with ceramics. Anything where I can learn a new skill is fun."
