An unsettling advertisement for a milk bath service has been causing a stir online, featuring a naked man in a tub of murky liquid and an elderly woman in a stained gown. The poster, which appeared around Los Angeles, listed selling points such as “Open to Men only,” “Use my sponge,” and the chilling “I will watch you.”
Upon investigation, the Bathe In My Milk website led to a Facebook profile and eventually an Instagram account belonging to Alan Wager. When contacted, Wager revealed that the milk bath service was a hoax. He explained that he is a 26-year-old digital artist and comedian based in LA, not a 70-something milk-bathing dominatrix.
Wager, along with creative partner Sydney Marquez, 25, enlisted friends and actors to create the set using objects that were “lying around.” They then mocked up the poster and distributed 200 copies around LA. Those who expressed interest were directed to write to an address that turned out to be a friend’s home.
When asked about the project’s purpose, Wager stated, “I’d like to leave the interpretation up to the viewers. Generally it’s supposed to be a viscerally upsetting, confusing thing. We like to make projects that reside between reality and absurdity and make you question what you believe is normal.”
