Sir Elton John Attends Paris Fashion Show with Husband Amid Ongoing Vision Battle
Elton John at Paris Fashion Show with Husband and Health Update

Music icon Sir Elton John made a stylish appearance at the Valentino show during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week this Wednesday, with his husband David Furnish providing steadfast support by his side. The celebrated singer, aged 78, cut a dapper figure for the high-profile outing, donning a striking crimson blazer paired with a classic black shirt and matching trousers.

Fashionable Arrival and Family Moments

The legendary hitmaker was seen holding hands with artist manager David Furnish, 63, as they arrived at the prestigious event. David, who has been married to Elton since 2014 after a long-term partnership beginning in 1993, complemented his husband's look with a light grey blazer, a red striped jumper, and black trousers.

In recent weeks, the couple enjoyed New Year celebrations alongside their two sons, Zachary, 14, and Elijah, 12, who are seldom seen in public. The family attended a glamorous party hosted by Italian fashion designer Donatella Versace to welcome 2026 in style.

Glimpses of Festivity and Personal Resilience

Captured in photographs from the Versace event, Elton smiled warmly alongside Donatella, his husband David, and their children. He wore a sophisticated black blazer adorned with a distinctive floral collar for the occasion. Sharing his gratitude on Instagram, Elton posted: 'Thank you Donatella Versace and Edward Enninful for hosting us for a fabulous New Years Eve party! A perfect way to see in 2026.' Donatella responded affectionately, commenting: 'I love you so so much Elton! No better way to start 2026.'

However, these glittering events have been particularly poignant for Elton, as he has been navigating a difficult period due to significant vision impairment. Over the past several months, his ability to fully experience such occasions has been hampered by his ongoing struggle with blindness.

A Challenging Health Journey

Last month, the music legend opened up about the profound impact of his condition, describing the last 15 months as 'challenging' amidst his battle with blindness. This stems from a severe eye infection contracted in July 2024, which resulted in complete blindness in his right eye and severely limited vision in his left.

In a candid update to Variety, Elton expressed the emotional toll, stating: 'It’s been devastating. Because I lost my right eye and my left eye’s not so good, the last 15 months have been challenging for me because I haven’t been able to see anything, watch anything, read anything.' He drew a parallel to the AIDS crisis, emphasising the importance of hope and resilience: 'You mustn’t give up hope, you must be stoic, you must be strong and you must always try and batter the door down to try and improve things.'

Treatment Progress and Family Focus

Despite these hardships, Elton remains optimistic, noting that he has been undergoing continuous treatment and has observed 'some improvements in his left eye'. In an interview with The Times, he reflected on the adjustments required, saying: 'I can see you, but I can't see TV, I can't read. I can't see my boys playing rugby and soccer, and it has been a very stressful time because I'm used to soaking it all up.'

He added, maintaining a positive outlook: 'It's distressing. You get emotional, but you have to get on with it because I'm lucky to have the life I have. I still have my wonderful family, and I can still see something out of here [left eye] So you say to yourself, just get on with it.' In a lighter moment, Elton also joked about his sons' evolving tastes, noting they have moved on from Eego and Star Wars toys to develop an 'all-consuming love of rap'.
