Emilia Clarke has revealed that her rise to global fame with Game of Thrones was overshadowed by a painful secret breakup. The actress, now 33, said she was nursing a 'rubbish' heartbreak just as she was cast as Daenerys Targaryen in 2010.
Speaking about the split, Clarke admitted: 'There's a very important boy who I was with for quite a long time. When we parted ways, it was just rubbish as most of those early heartbreaks are. I really felt it.' The relationship ended while she was still at drama school.
Since then, Clarke has had relationships with US actor Seth MacFarlane and director Charlie McDowell, with whom she split last year. She was recently spotted in Positano, Italy, with assistant director Tom Turner. Clarke said a song by Baltimore duo Beach House, titled Take Care, reminds her of the lost love.
