Gary Lineker has announced that he is about to become a grandfather for the first time. The former England footballer and long-time Match of the Day presenter made the revelation while speaking to celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay on the latest episode of his podcast, The Rest Is Football. Ramsay is also set to become a first-time grandfather.
Lineker's Family News
Lineker shares four sons with his former wife Michelle: George, 34, Harry, 32, Tobias, 30, and Angus, 28. The couple divorced in 2006 after more than two decades of marriage. Last year, Lineker celebrated Harry's wedding to his wife Annabelle in Ibiza, where he was also reunited with his younger brother Wayne after ending a 17-year family rift.
Conversation with Gordon Ramsay
During the podcast episode, Lineker told Ramsay: "We've got something else in common – we're both about to become grandparents for the first time. How exciting is that?!" Ramsay replied: "I am secretly petrified because until they can talk and communicate with you, you can't do much, we're not going to f****** breastfeed, are we?"
Ramsay's Daughter's Pregnancy
The conversation follows the announcement that Ramsay's daughter, Holly, is expecting a baby with her husband, Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty. Holly shared the news on Instagram with a photo of Adam with his hand on her waist, showing her baby bump. The post read: "Baby Ramsay-Peaty coming December 2026." They later confirmed the gender by adding: "We can't wait to meet our baby girl."
Lineker's Contentment with Single Life
Lineker recently spoke about his personal life on Louis Theroux's podcast, stating that he is content with single life after a decade of bachelorhood and has no plans to marry or live with another partner again. He said: "I like being on my own. I've got so accustomed to it now and being slightly selfish, but unanswerable to anyone." When asked if he is "just alone in a big house," Lineker replied: "Me and a dog. But my boys are always around... I'm absolutely happy on my own." On the possibility of a new romance, he added: "No, I think I'm done. I don't know, you never know, but I just can't imagine actually living with someone again."
