Georgia Horsley, the wife of McFly guitarist Danny Jones, has made a brutally honest admission about her home life, revealing that she does not "always love being a mum." The 39-year-old former Miss England winner spoke candidly on her podcast, Mum's the Word!, co-hosted with Kelsey Parker, about the relatable struggles many parents face.
A Relatable Parenting Struggle
Georgia described a specific scenario where motherhood feels particularly challenging: when long-awaited plans are ruined by a child's illness. "Do you know when I don't love being a mum? I always feel ever so guilty for it, but we all feel this. It is when you've got something really exciting planned and it's been in the diary for ages, and then your kid gets sick," she explained.
She expressed feelings of "real unfairness" in such moments, acknowledging the guilt but normalising the emotion. "You're sad and fed up because you can't do that thing you were really excited about. You're gutted, but you've got to be a parent. Honestly, I think that is such a valid feeling," Georgia added, emphasising that it's fine not to always enjoy parenting.
Homework Hassles and Support Networks
Beyond cancelled plans, Georgia highlighted another common parenting difficulty: helping her eight-year-old son Cooper with homework. "What I feel like with the homework is they've already done so much at school, they don't need to come back and do any more. I can't do it either," she admitted.
She confessed to Googling complex English terms, calling it "bloody hard." To cope with these challenges, Georgia relies on a WhatsApp group with other mums, where they share honest struggles, from tantrums to wardrobe mishaps. "It's nice to have that network of honesty and people being like, yeah, this is hard," she said.
Marriage Resilience After Scandal
Georgia's openness comes just over a year after her marriage faced public scrutiny. In early 2025, Danny Jones was filmed appearing to kiss I'm A Celebrity campmate Maura Higgins at a BRIT Awards after-party, sparking a media frenzy. Danny later apologised publicly on Instagram, stating, "I want to deeply apologise to my wife and family for putting them in this situation."
Despite the upheaval, the couple, who married in North Yorkshire in 2014, have worked through the crisis privately. Danny paid tribute to Georgia on her birthday in December 2025, affectionately calling her "my mushyyyyyy." Georgia has stood by him, with the family even flying to Australia to greet Danny after he won I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in late 2024.
Balancing Love and Honesty
Georgia stressed that her feelings do not diminish her love for Cooper. "I'll always love Cooper with every ounce of my being, but sometimes... It's fine to not always love being a parent. I think 99.9% of the population, actually, probably 100%, don't always love it," she said, encouraging other parents to embrace their authentic emotions without shame.
Her candid discussion sheds light on the often-unspoken realities of parenthood, promoting a message of solidarity and self-compassion in the face of daily challenges.
