Greg Davies Opens Up About Struggle After 3 Stone Weight Loss Using Ozempic
Greg Davies on Struggle After 3 Stone Weight Loss

Greg Davies, the comedian and presenter best known for hosting Taskmaster, has opened up about a struggle he faced after shedding three stone in weight. The 57-year-old turned to the medication Ozempic following a stark warning from his doctor about his health.

Ozempic and Weight Loss

Ozempic is a medication primarily prescribed for managing type 2 diabetes by helping to control blood sugar levels. However, it has gained popularity as a weight-loss aid, with many people, including Davies, using it to shed pounds. The 6ft 8in presenter said his doctor warned he would “look obese” if not for his height. After losing three stone, Davies decided to stop using the medication.

Speaking to The Times, he said: “Three stone fell off me. But I didn’t really like it, it made me a bit gaunt.” He added that his appetite has never fully returned: “My appetite’s never gone back to the way it was. I can’t ram things in the way I used to.”

Ageing and Comedy Style

Despite his weight loss journey, Davies has previously stated he is not afraid of ageing, believing it could benefit his career. “I think that’s probably good in my game, isn’t it?” he told The Times. The Inbetweeners star has developed a comedic style that often involves self-deprecation, regularly making jokes about his teenage masturbation mishap, his penis size, and his enlarged prostate.

He explained that targeting himself feels “safer” and is rooted in his unusual physique. “I know who the victim of that material is — it’s me — and I know that I can take it,” he said. He describes himself as a “pot-bellied giant” and believes this self-mocking approach is a “very British style of humour.”

BAFTA TV Awards Host

Davies is set to host the annual BAFTA TV Awards tonight at London’s Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall, airing from 7pm on BBC One. He takes over from actor Alan Cumming, who hosted the 2025 TV awards and the 2026 film awards.

Davies said: “I see the whole event as an opportunity to wave a flag for this beloved medium and, with the exception of one commissioner, two execs and a co-star that I have personal beef with, I will do everything I can to ensure it’s a night of warm celebration for all.”
