Kate Garraway has taken time off to enjoy a romantic trip abroad with boyfriend Liam Halligan in southern Europe. The Good Morning Britain host, 59, was spotted in Italy, where she joined her economist and journalist boyfriend on a work trip over the weekend.
Low-Key Getaway Focused on Quality Time
The pair has been dating for three months, and an insider told The Sun that they have been enjoying their time together. They said: "Liam was travelling to Italy and asked Kate to join him, she was happy to oblige. It will be quite low-key, but they are hoping to be able to spend some time together and enjoy the Italian cuisine."
Public Support at Cycling Event
There were no photos shared during the trip, but the pair were snapped at an event in May where Kate was cheering on Liam for cycling from London to Paris in 24 hours to raise funds for Duchenne UK.
New Romance Brings Joy After Tough Years
Speaking about her new "love" at the TRIC Awards last month, Kate shared: "It is early days, but it has been a great year." And in April, Liam admitted their relationship, saying: "I have known Kate for years and we have recently become close. We laugh a lot and really enjoy each other's company. This may or may not turn into something long-term, but there is a definite spark between us, and we are both excited to see what happens."
Insiders Describe Organic Connection
An insider told Heatworld that Kate is enjoying being in the throes of a new relationship. They added: "Everyone thinks it’s so nice to see her smiling again. Kate went on such a journey with the public over Derek’s health struggles. At one point, she felt as though she had the support of the whole nation on her side. She’s been wary, but it’s great that she’s had well-wishes from the public about her new romance."
They continued: "Liam has been a total rock for Kate. Everything about their relationship has happened organically and felt right. They’re both journalists and they have a lot in common. They understand the world they work in, so Kate already feels there’s a deep trust between them."
