Kate Middleton Stuns in White Polka Dot Dress at Buckingham Palace Garden Party
Kate Middleton Elegant in White Polka Dot Dress at Garden Party

The Princess of Wales was the image of elegance in a white £460 dress from one of her favourite brands, Self Portrait, as she hosted a garden party with her husband at Buckingham Palace this afternoon.

Kate's Stunning Outfit

Kate, 44, stunned in the ivory ensemble, adorned with black polka dots, as she joined Prince William for the festivities commemorating Britain's frontline workers. The outfit featured a structured blazer-style bodice with buttons and a belt, fanning out into a flowy satin skirt. A romantic flower pin decorated the lapels.

To accessorise, the future Queen carried a woven clutch from Australian brand Forever New and wore her Ralph Lauren Celia heels. Shielding away from the sun, she was glamorous in a vintage Mitzi Lorenz hat.

Jewellery Tribute to the Late Queen

Kate's jewellery paid a touching tribute to Queen Elizabeth II. She donned the Bahrain Pearl Drop Earrings, a treasured royal heirloom made from pearls gifted to Elizabeth II by the Hakim of Bahrain for her wedding to Prince Philip. The earrings became a favourite in the early years of her marriage. The late Queen later loaned them to Princess Diana and Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh. However, since Remembrance Sunday in 2016, Kate has worn them exclusively.

Event Honouring Frontline Workers

William and Kate stepped out for today's event on behalf of King Charles to celebrate workers from across the frontline sectors, including emergency services, volunteers and charity workers. The King and Queen held a similar event earlier this week, joined by the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.

Looking dapper next to his wife, Prince William opted for a formal suit, blue waistcoat and red tie. Meanwhile, Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh—who was glamorous in a baby blue ensemble—were also in attendance. Zara Tindall, Princess Anne's daughter, was effortlessly sophisticated in a cerulean frock and statement hat.

Garden Party Tradition

Every summer, the King and royal family host a series of garden parties in London and one at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Scotland. Historically, they served as presentation parties for the debutantes of high society, but now recognise and reward public service instead. The party begins with the national anthem, before members of the royal family take to the lawns and greet guests. Today marks the second garden party of the year, with a third event at the palace to take place on Tuesday, May 12.
