Junior and Princess Andre, the children of Katie Price, wept during a joint interview as they described the profound impact of their mother's substance abuse on their childhood. Junior, 21, and Princess, 19, opened up about living in the public eye after their parents' split and navigating their mother's struggles with cocaine.
Junior's Harrowing Memory
Junior recalled a specific night when he was waiting for his mother in her bed. “I woke up probably 3:30am to some loud noises, and I see her come in the room, and I'll never forget the look on her face, she was obviously on stuff,” he said. “I could see it in her eyes, and I was.. it scared me, because I've never seen my mum look like that. She's there, but she's not there.” He added that she “wasn't being a mum” and that the love he once knew was missing.
Princess's Loneliness
Princess described using a blanket sprayed with her mother's perfume as an emotional attachment. “I used to go home and just feel so like lonely in a way. I used to just cuddle to the blanket and just cry,” she said. She chose to stay with their mother, hoping to show support, but Katie was “so hooked up in her own problems.”
Fending for Themselves
The siblings learned to care for themselves, including making microwave meals and looking after each other. Junior eventually left home at 14 or 15, seeking stability with their father, Peter Andre. “It made me feel like I wasn't good enough, because she wasn't fixing herself for me,” he said.
Katie's Perspective
In the new Sky documentary series, Katie Price admitted that cocaine was “the only thing that blocked everything out.” Reflecting on the period after her 2009 split from Peter Andre and a troubled marriage to Kieran Hayler, she said, “It will take out that pain, it will take out any worry, it will take out the noise.” She acknowledged her failures: “Kids need their mum's love, their mum's hugs, and I thought I was giving that, but obviously I wasn't.”
A Turning Point
After a night of drugs and drinking in September 2021, Katie crashed her car while feeling suicidal. She recalled finding comfort in a police cell: “It was like peace. Peace and quiet. It is quite sad to think that.” She credited six weeks in The Priory with saving her life and improving her relationships with Junior and Princess.
Family Reactions to Her Fourth Marriage
The documentary also covers Katie's marriage to Dubai businessman Lee Andrews in January, which she entered after knowing him for just weeks. Her stepdad Paul Price expressed anger, saying, “I said ‘you’re off your head.’ And then the geezer is in the paper pretending to be a millionaire.” Junior called it “the most silliest stupidest thing.”
Katie's mother, Amy Price, expressed hope that her daughter will find happiness and less drama. “In some ways, she's still like a child. But she's a good daughter. I hope she really does find someone to love and be happy.”
The four-part Sky Original series, Katie Price: Nothing to Hide, will be available on Sky and streaming service NOW from July 8.
