Rose Leslie, star of BBC's Vigil, has spoken about her relationship with husband Kit Harington, revealing it hasn't always been smooth sailing. The Scottish actress, 36, met Harington on the set of Game of Thrones in 2011, where they played on-screen lovers Ygritte and Jon Snow.
Their romance initially fizzled out in 2013 but reignited a year later, and they went public in 2016. Leslie told Vogue Italia that year: 'If you're already attracted to someone, and then they play your love interest in the show, it becomes very easy to fall in love.' Harington proposed in summer 2017, demanding Game of Thrones producers schedule the wedding around the cast.
The couple married in 2017 and now live in Suffolk with their two children—a son born in 2021 and a daughter born earlier this year. Harington has spoken about the joys of fatherhood, telling People magazine: 'Every day I wake up and look after this little human... It's a beautiful thing.'
However, their domestic bliss followed a difficult period. In May 2019, Harington checked into a rehabilitation facility for stress and alcohol abuse, reportedly costing over $120,000 (£94,000) a month. He underwent psychological coaching and cognitive behavioural therapy. Harington later told Variety that his 'darkest period' came when Jon Snow's storyline became the focus of Game of Thrones, leading him to seek therapy.
Leslie, best known for roles in Downton Abbey and Game of Thrones, is currently starring in the second series of Vigil, which shifts from the Navy to the RAF. She plays DCI Kirsten Longacre, who has a love story with DCI Amy Silva.
