Lewis Capaldi Channels Harry Styles at Blackweir Live in Cardiff Review
Lewis Capaldi at Blackweir Live: Harry Styles Tribute and Hits

Lewis Capaldi took to the stage at Blackweir Live in Cardiff on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, delivering a performance that blended his biggest hits with nods to other superstars, including Harry Styles. The Scottish songwriter, who learned guitar at nine, played to a sold-out crowd of 35,000 in Bute Park.

Setlist and Surprises

Capaldi opened with 'Hollywood' and followed with 'Grace'. The 90-minute set included a mix of his greatest hits, a snippet of Katy Perry (who was performing nearby), and an acoustic version of Britney Spears' 'Everytime', which he said he had never performed live before. He also played 'The Day That I Die', joking about his own death.

Emotional Connection and Mental Health

Between songs, Capaldi engaged the crowd with self-deprecating humour. He referenced his well-publicised mental health struggles but said he was in a good place. He told the audience he had spent his day off watching Harry Styles in concert, even copying his dance moves. "I want to say thank you for making it possible for me to come back," he said, admitting he thought that might not be possible at points.

Summer Tour and New Album

Capaldi noted that last week marked a year since he returned to Glastonbury after failing to finish his set in 2023. He described this summer as "lovely" and called the Cardiff gig his favourite of the summer so far. He said he hoped the new album he plans to write after the tour would be something "you don't hate". Nick Saunders, founder of Depot Live, said: "To say announcing Lewis Capaldi coming to Blackweir has been popular is an understatement. Lewis is undoubtedly one of the most beloved performers in the UK today."

Production and Band

The show featured a split-screen projection system that created a visually stunning backdrop. Capaldi's band performed well, and the overall production elevated the acoustic performance. Despite the breakup and heartbreak themes, the audience left feeling uplifted.

After Lewis Capaldi, Blackweir Live will welcome Pitbull on Saturday, July 4. Tickets for Capaldi's second night on July 1 are still available.
