Lionel Richie Breaks Silence After On-Stage Medical Emergency

Lionel Richie has broken his silence after a health scare forced him to halt a concert in Minnesota, leading to the cancellation of two upcoming shows. The 77-year-old singer was performing at the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul on June 25 when he began feeling faint and was forced to leave the stage.

On-Stage Incident and Hospital Visit

During the performance, Richie announced an unusual 40-minute break before the show was ultimately ended early. He was reportedly taken to a hospital by ambulance as a precaution. Saxophonist Dino Soldo addressed the crowd, saying: "Unfortunately, Lionel is not feeling well. He won't be able to continue."

The incident marked the first night of Richie's summer tour with Earth, Wind and Fire, which includes 26 cities across the United States.

Postponement and Medical Advice

A new statement from Richie's team revealed that doctors have advised him to rest, leading to the postponement of his scheduled shows in Chicago and Columbus. The statement read: "Lionel is heartbroken to postpone these two shows and cannot wait to be back performing for his fans."

Sources close to the singer say family and friends are "concerned" about his health but remain supportive. One insider revealed: "Right now, Lionel is actually more upset that fans didn't get the full show they paid for than he is about himself and his health."

Return to the Stage

Richie is expected to return to the stage on June 30 in Pittsburgh, with his team describing the health issue as a "temporary setback." The singer has not disclosed the specific nature of his medical emergency but has expressed gratitude for the support from fans and loved ones.
