Meghan Shares Unseen Wedding Photos for 8th Anniversary with Harry
Meghan Posts Unreleased Wedding Photos for Anniversary

The Duchess of Sussex has marked her eighth wedding anniversary with Prince Harry by sharing a collection of previously unseen photographs from their special day. The photos were posted across two Instagram updates for her 4.5 million followers.

Unseen Moments from the Royal Wedding

They included candid shots of Meghan and Harry dancing, scenes from the ceremony, and a performance by Sir Elton John. Each of the 24 images was captioned "eight years ago today…" with a sun and moon emoji.

The couple exchanged vows at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on 19 May 2018. In a mix of black and white and colour, the newly released pictures captured behind-the-scenes moments from official portraits, Prince Harry's speech, and the ceremony crowd.

The other post shows the couple celebrating together in the evening, twirling and dipping on the dance floor before sharing a kiss.

Photographer and Wedding Details

Meghan credited the “wonderful” Chris Allerton, the photographer behind the shots.

Harry and Meghan began their relationship in mid-2016 and announced their engagement in November 2017. Harry proposed using a Cleave and Company ring, with a large central diamond from Botswana and two smaller diamonds from his late mother Diana’s collection.

The wedding, which was officiated by Justin Welby, the then-Archbishop of Canterbury, was estimated to cost about £32 million and generate about £1 billion for the British economy.

Meghan's Wedding Attire

Meghan wore a dress designed by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy and a veil featuring 55 flowers, representing the 53 countries of the Commonwealth, the California poppy, and wintersweet, which grows in front of the couple’s home.

The veil was secured by a diamond tiara which had been made in 1932 for Queen Mary. It was lent to Meghan by Harry’s grandmother Queen Elizabeth II. Meghan’s shoes were also by Givenchy and her jewellery was by Cartier.

Her wedding bouquet was chosen by Harry, who included forget-me-nots in honour of his late mother Diana, as well as scented sweet peas, lily of the valley, jasmine, and myrtle. Meghan also had a small piece of fabric from Diana’s wedding dress sewn into her gown.

The Royal Mint produced a £5 coin, showing the couple in profile, to mark their wedding.
