Actress Millie Bobby Brown was compelled to cancel a scheduled live television interview this week after sustaining an injury. The 21-year-old star of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was set to appear on Monday's episode of Good Morning America alongside her co-star Noah Schnapp.
A Surprising Absence Explained
During the broadcast, GMA co-host Lara Spencer, 56, informed viewers that Brown was unexpectedly absent from the segment. Spencer explained that the young actress had suffered what she described as a 'spell.' In place of her live appearance, Brown had pre-recorded a video message for the show, in which her arm was clearly visible, supported by a sling.
'To everyone at GMA, I'm really sorry I couldn't be there with you guys. I took a fall,' Brown stated in the clip. Despite her injury, she was determined to contribute to the promotional conversation for the show's finale. With characteristic humour, she noted, 'I wanted to still participate in any way I could because you know we, I have to make it about me.'
A Festive Question for Co-Star Noah Schnapp
Brown then directed a light-hearted, seasonal question to her colleague Noah Schnapp, who was present in the studio. 'Now, I'm very excited to ask you this question,' she said. 'I don't think I know the answer considering you're my best friend, but what's your favorite family tradition to do with the holidays or favorite memory during the holiday season?'
Schnapp, also 21, replied that his family enjoys playing the game fishbowl. 'It can get a little crazy,' he added. Brown did not provide further specifics about the nature of her accident or her expected recovery timeline.
Promoting the Stranger Things Finale
The interview was primarily intended to promote the highly anticipated conclusion of Stranger Things. Brown and Schnapp, who play Eleven and Will Byers respectively, are preparing for the release of season five volume two on December 25. This final instalment will consist of three episodes, with the series finale, titled 'The Rightside Up,' arriving on December 31.
Reflecting on the end of the era, Schnapp shared his feelings with Spencer. 'I'm nervous to watch it,' he confessed. 'Once you watch that, it's done. That's the last episode we're going to watch together and it's so emotional. Reading it, I can't fathom what it's going to be like to watch.'
He revealed the cast plans to view the finale together one last time, predicting they will be 'sobbing the rest of the day and month.'
Balancing Motherhood and Stardom
Beyond her acting commitments, Millie Bobby Brown is navigating new motherhood alongside her promotional duties. The star, who married partner Jake Bongiovi in May 2024, welcomed a daughter through adoption in August.
In a recent interview with British Vogue for its December issue, she emphasised her commitment to protecting her child's privacy. 'For me, it's really important to protect her and her story until she's old enough to potentially one day share it herself,' Brown explained. 'It's our job to protect her from that.'
