Nadia Fairfax's Heartbreaking Tribute to Mother Sharon

Australian fashion influencer and socialite Nadia Fairfax has shared a deeply emotional and intimate tribute to her mother, Sharon Fairfax, following her death earlier this month.

A Final Farewell on Instagram

The 36-year-old, who rose to prominence as a fashion 'It Girl' over a decade ago, took to her Instagram Stories to post a final farewell after her mother's funeral, which was held on Thursday. Sharing poignant images from a family memorial book, Nadia expressed her ongoing disbelief at the loss. "I'm still not able to believe this is real," she wrote in the caption, thanking those who came to support her and her father.

She described her mother as "truly one of the greats," accompanying the words with a beautiful black-and-white throwback photograph of Sharon. Further images from the memorial book showcased Sharon's renowned sense of style, including a chic shot of her in a two-piece swimsuit.

Remembering a Vibrant Life

Sharon Fairfax passed away on December 2 at the age of 63. She was married to publisher and philanthropist John B. Fairfax, a member of the famous Australian media dynasty. In an interview with Sunday Confidential last weekend, Nadia reflected on her mother's character, stating, "Mum was a pretty vibrant woman."

Despite her profound grief, Nadia explained that she chose to proceed with a birthday party for her two-year-old daughter, Cordelia. "There’s no way that Mum would have wanted me to cancel anything. She loved to bring joy to the world, just like I do, and that’s what that was," she told the publication.

Family and Personal Milestones

Nadia shares her toddler, Cordelia, with her husband, investment advisor Michael Wayne. The couple celebrated the arrival of their first child with a joyous Instagram post in December 2023. They married in March 2021 in a lavish ceremony at Swifts, a heritage-listed Gothic Revival mansion in Sydney's Darling Point. Their wedding guest list included high-profile names such as former rugby league star Luke Ricketson and his wife, Kate Waterhouse.

It is reported that Nadia and Michael first met at the December 2018 wedding of Montarna McDonald and Nick Pitt. Nadia, who began blogging about fashion in 2013, is considered one of Sydney's foremost socialites. Her husband, Michael, is the Managing Director of Medallion Financial and a regular commentator on Sky Business.
