Princess Anne has won praise after a video showed her handing her umbrella to a woman cleric during a downpour in London. The Princess Royal was leaving St Olave's Church following the Trinitytide anniversary annual court meeting and luncheon on Wednesday, dressed in her ceremonial naval uniform as Master of the Corporation of Trinity House.
In footage shared on social media by Marks London reels, Anne can be seen asking for an umbrella, which she then gives to the cleric walking beside her. The princess continued walking unfazed by the heavy rain.
Royal fans took to social media to commend the gesture. One user wrote on X: “What a sweet gesture she did.” Another commented: “She is such a trooper. Regardless of the weather, she shows up to do her duty. And I can easily understand why she handed the umbrella over to the chaplain who was wearing long formal church garments.”
Others praised Anne's character, with one user saying: “The Princess Royal is, in my opinion, the cream of the crop of the Royal family. She is an absolute star.” Another added: “HRH is pure class.”
The Princess Royal is regularly seen as the hardest-working member of the Royal Family, consistently undertaking the most engagements each year. In 2025, her brother King Charles carried out the most engagements, though Anne worked more days.
