Sara Cox has confirmed that she will remain a part of BBC's Morning Live even after taking over the Radio 2 Breakfast Show. The 51-year-old presenter made her debut on the flagship radio programme on Monday, July 6, replacing Scott Mills, who was dismissed following an investigation into historic sexual offence allegations.
Radio 2 Breakfast Show Debut
Cox moved from the Drivetime slot to the early morning show, with Gary Davies providing interim cover after Mills' departure. Her first show featured a surprise guest appearance from Hollywood star Tom Hanks, who inadvertently rebranded the programme as 'Sara in the Morning on the Morning Show'. Cox joked that the comment had been turned into a jingle, adding: 'He's Hollywood royalty and can rebrand what he likes.'
Other celebrities scheduled to appear during her first week include Olivia Rodrigo and Matt Damon. Cox quipped: 'They are letting me talk to celebrities, which is brave and exciting.'
Morning Live Commitment
Just a day after her radio debut, Cox appeared via video link on Morning Live to chat with hosts Helen Skelton and Rav Wilding. She told them: 'I'll always be a part of the Morning Live family.' Skelton responded: 'Yes you will!' Cox has been a regular stand-in host on the daytime show, which typically airs at 9:30am — the same time her new Radio 2 show concludes.
The appearance also coincided with The One Show's 20th anniversary, with host Alex Jones currently standing in on Radio 2's Drivetime slot, which ends at 7pm as The One Show begins. Rav Wilding introduced Cox by noting that her radio debut came just hours after England's World Cup victory over Mexico, which kept fans up into the early hours.

Cox's promotion to the Breakfast Show marks a significant career milestone. She had previously hosted the Drivetime slot for several years. The change follows the departure of Scott Mills, who was sacked by the BBC after the Metropolitan Police launched an investigation into historic allegations of serious sexual offences against him.
