YouTube Prankster Max Fosh's $800 Regret After Fake Royal Stunt in New York
YouTube Star's $800 Regret After Fake Royal Prank

In a candid revelation on the Spent podcast, London-based YouTube personality Max Fosh has opened up about one of his most extravagant and regrettable pranks, which ultimately cost him a substantial $800. The 30-year-old content creator, known for his elaborate public stunts, shared the story during an episode hosted by Matt Edmondson, produced in association with Nationwide.

The Elaborate Royal Deception on Fifth Avenue

During a trip to New York City, Fosh devised an ambitious scheme where he pretended to be a member of the British royal family, inventing the fictional title 'Earl of Luton' for himself. To execute the prank with convincing flair, he hired two imposing bodyguards to flank him, enhancing his appearance of importance as they ventured into upscale boutiques along Fifth Avenue.

Fosh recounted wearing a suit while his American friend acted as his advance 'fixer', informing store staff that a British royal was about to arrive and requesting special accommodations. The reaction was immediate and dramatic, with boutique employees reportedly 'losing their minds' and closing an entire floor to cater to his supposed royal needs.

A Costly Shopping Spree with Unexpected Consequences

As part of the charade, Fosh selected several items from the store, pointing out what he described as 'really ugly' pieces to test whether the personal shopper would compliment anything he chose. His initial plan involved purchasing four items totalling $2,500 with the intention of returning them days later to reclaim his money.

However, the prankster's cover was blown shortly after leaving the store when he discovered a direct message on his Instagram account from one of the boutique employees. The message read: 'I knew it was you. I know that was b******t.' This revelation sent Fosh into a panic, prompting him to contact his lawyer for urgent advice.

Legal Advice and Permanent Possession

While his lawyer reassured him that no crime had been committed despite the deception, the legal professional advised against returning the purchased items as a precautionary measure. This left Fosh permanently in possession of the $2,500 worth of merchandise, including what he described as a particularly embarrassing Greg Loren shirt.

'The shirt is so see-through all you can see are my nipples just poking right out the front of them,' Fosh lamented during the podcast, highlighting the impractical and uncomfortable nature of his unintended acquisition.

Celebrity Spending Confessions on Spent Podcast

Fosh's story forms part of a growing collection of celebrity spending confessions featured on the Spent podcast, where guests reveal their most extravagant and regrettable purchases. Among other notable revelations, former radio presenter Melvin Odoom discussed his hot tub purchase, which he described as the biggest 'waste of money' he had ever made.

Odoom detailed how the seemingly straightforward purchase became increasingly complicated and expensive, requiring a crane for installation that nearly damaged his house. He joked that rather than making him appear 'cool' as intended, the hot tub actually had the opposite effect, particularly when mentioning it to potential romantic partners.

'There's nothing more seedy than telling a person you've just met you've got a hot tub,' Odoom remarked, adding that the maintenance and energy costs eventually became so burdensome that he emptied and abandoned the contraption entirely.

The Spent podcast, produced in association with Nationwide, continues to explore the fascinating and often humorous world of celebrity spending habits, with new episodes released every Tuesday on YouTube and major podcast platforms.
