Love Island couple Harry Cooksley and Shakira Khan have sent fans into a frenzy after sharing loved-up pictures from their holiday to Marrakesh, with many believing the post was an engagement announcement. The pair, who finished as runners-up on the 12th series of the ITV2 dating show last year, have proven their doubters wrong by remaining strong nearly a year after meeting in the villa.
Holiday Snapshots Spark Confusion
Harry, 31, and Shakira, 23, jetted off to the popular Moroccan city for some sunshine and took to Instagram to share sweet pictures from their travels. The photos included one of the former footballer lifting the influencer into the air, another of them holding hands, and a third of them cuddled up together. They captioned the post: 'Marrakech over & out.'
At first glance, many fans thought the post was an engagement announcement. Comments flooded in, with one writing: 'Why did I think it was an engagement post?' Another replied: 'K, so it wasn't just me.' Others added: 'My heart was in shock I thought this was an engagement post,' 'Practice engagement post,' 'PLS I THOUGHT THIS WAS AN ENGAGEMENT POST,' 'Thought the first image was gonna be a marriage announcement,' and 'I thought this was a proposal post.'
Their Love Island Journey
Both Harry and Shakira entered the villa on day one of last year's show. Shakira initially coupled up with Ben Holborough, while Harry was partnered with Sophie Lee. Shortly after the first coupling, Toni Laites stole Ben from Shakira, leaving her single. She then showed interest in Harry by picking him, but days later she went back to Ben. Meanwhile, Harry was in a strong couple with Helena Ford.
Things became complicated as Shakira and Harry coupled up, but Harry then returned to Helena. Shakira then coupled with Conor Philips, but the spark between her and Harry could not be ignored. They eventually got together just weeks before the final, leaving Helena heartbroken, and finished as runners-up.
