Television personality Scarlett Moffatt has been crowned the winner of the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special, dazzling the panel and viewers with a festive Cha Cha.
A Festive Triumph on the Dancefloor
Partnered with professional dancer Vito Coppola, the former Gogglebox star performed a vibrant Cha Cha to a Christmas melody. Their routine was a resounding success, earning a perfect score of 40 out of 40 from the judging panel. This stellar performance, combined with the vote from the studio audience, secured their victory in the special episode.
The win held extra significance as it marked one of the final appearances in the ballroom for beloved hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman during the festive period.
Addressing the Dance Experience Rumours
Following her win, Moffatt took a moment to directly address long-standing rumours about her previous dance training, which she has said would preclude her from entering the main series of the show.
She clarified that a childhood encounter with Strictly judge Anton Du Beke had been "twisted" over time. "Anton and Erin were doing a show, and at the end of the show, they would teach people how to do a bit of a foxtrot or a bit of a waltz," Moffatt explained. "I went to that when I was eight, and Anton signed a piece of paper which I’ve still got."
She humorously noted how this brief experience had been misrepresented, saying, "That somehow was translated into that I was trained by Anton. Somehow, that’s been twisted, and I am professionally trained by Anton. It’s so funny though, man. You’ve got to laugh, haven’t you?"
What This Means for Strictly Future
Prior to the special, Moffatt had openly acknowledged that her past experience would likely prevent her from ever competing in the main Strictly Come Dancing series. She had expressed that being part of the Christmas edition "means everything" to her as a result.
Her victory and candid comments have sparked fresh conversation among fans about the rules regarding celebrity contestants' backgrounds and what constitutes professional training.
The triumph caps a remarkable year for Moffatt and provides a memorable finale to the Strictly festive calendar, proving that the Christmas special remains a fiercely contested and beloved part of the show's tradition.
