Lizzo Dazzles in Daring Blue Corset at amfAR Gala

Lizzo stole the spotlight at Thursday night's star-studded amfAR gala in Cannes, donning a daring bright blue ensemble that captivated attendees. The 38-year-old singer arrived at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes wearing a striking corset featuring pierced nipple detail and a diamond necklace draped across her chest.

She completed the look with a matching blue satin fishtail skirt, long gloves, and layers of diamonds around her neck and arms. The star is expected to change into another head-turning outfit when she performs at the gala later this evening.

The amfAR Gala

The black-tie event serves as the premier fundraiser for amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, typically raising millions of euros each night. This year's gala is hosted by Academy Award winner Geena Davis, with performances also from Robbie Williams and Zara Larsson.

Key auction items include a walk-on role in Emily in Paris season six and an Arctic expedition. Over the past 30 years, this exclusive event has raised over $265 million for AIDS research, including $17 million last year alone.

Lizzo's Health Journey

Lizzo has previously spoken about her 'weight release' journey, losing approximately 60 pounds (16 per cent of her body fat) by early 2025. She has documented her health journey through social media selfies over the last three years.

In November 2025, Lizzo wrote a Substack essay addressing critics of her body transformation. 'It was never about being "thin" for me,' she wrote. 'I don't even think it's possible for me to be considered actually "thin". I will always have the stretch, and the skin of a woman who carries great weight. And I'm proud of that. Even when the world doesn't want me to be.'

She recalled feeling 'severely depressed' and 'deeply suicidal' in 2023 after a 'vicious scandal'—referring to a lawsuit filed by former backup dancers alleging sexual harassment, fat-shaming, and a hostile work environment, all of which she has denied.

Lizzo said her weight loss started unintentionally during a time of 'self-loathing and self-neglect,' but led to a therapeutic breakthrough, inspiring her to intentionally care for her body. She described her weight as a 'protective shield, a joyful comfort zone, and even sometimes a super hero suit,' but she wanted to 'release myself from it.'

The 'Good as Hell' singer added: 'If a woman wants to change, she should be allowed to change.' She emphasized that her goal was to change 'how I felt in my body' and still considers herself a 'proud big girl.' 'I love myself as I've loved myself no matter what the scale says,' she concluded.
