Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey has revealed he is effectively homeless, living out of hotels, eight years after a sexual assault scandal led to his exile from mainstream Hollywood.
Financial Fallout from Legal Battles
In a candid interview with Piers Morgan, the actor stated his financial situation is 'not great' and confirmed he lost his house. Spacey attributed this directly to the immense legal costs he incurred and his lack of income following the allegations that first surfaced in 2017.
Despite the serious nature of the multiple sexual misconduct claims made against him, Spacey has consistently denied all allegations. He described his past behaviour as 'handsy' during the conversation with Morgan.
Acquittals and a Quest for a Comeback
The actor's legal battles have seen mixed outcomes. He was cleared of Anthony Rapp's allegations in a 2022 US civil trial. The following year, in a significant UK case, a jury acquitted him of all nine sexual assault charges following a trial in London.
Despite these courtroom victories, Spacey claims he remains 'blacklisted' by the major Hollywood studios. He is, however, attempting a professional comeback. The actor has been starring in smaller, independent projects and has even received awards for his recent work.
Spacey believes that a single major casting in a significant film or television series would be enough to end his professional exile and restore his career to its former status.
