Beckham Asks Mary Berry for Selfie at Wimbledon Royal Box

Sir David Beckham, the England football legend, was spotted in the Wimbledon Royal Box on the opening day of the 2026 Championships, where he made a personal request to Dame Mary Berry for a group selfie. Beckham, 51, attended with his mother, Sandra, and was seen asking the beloved TV chef and former Great British Bake Off judge for a photograph. After first taking a picture with his mother, he requested a group shot that also included Deborah Jevans, the chair of the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club.

Star-Studded Royal Box

The Royal Box was filled with celebrities, including Alexander Armstrong, actor Mark Rylance, and Katherine Jenkins, all seated in the row behind Beckham. The former England captain, who co-owns MLS club Inter Miami and divides his time between the UK and USA, is a regular attendee at Wimbledon. He was seated front row to watch top seed Jannik Sinner begin his title defence against Serbia's Miomir Kecmanovic. Beckham's son Romeo was also spotted on the grounds with his girlfriend, Kim Turnbull, though he did not join the Royal Box.

Royal Box Invitation Rules

Being a high-profile figure does not guarantee a seat in the Royal Box. Guests must be invited by former champion and chair Jevans, who considers suggestions from the AELTC management committee, the Lawn Tennis Association, and other tennis bodies. A strict dress code applies; Lewis Hamilton was famously turned away in 2015 for violating it. Beckham and the Centre Court crowd gave Sinner a raucous reception as he entered. The Italian is the firm favourite this year after Carlos Alcaraz withdrew due to a wrist injury.
