William Will Not Meet Harry During UK Visit, Expert Claims
Prince William is unlikely to meet his estranged brother, Prince Harry, when the Duke of Sussex returns to the UK next month, according to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams. Harry is scheduled to arrive in mid-July for charity events, including the One Year To Go event for the Invictus Games in Birmingham. Reports indicate he may bring his wife Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, for the first time in four years.
Last Family Visit Was in 2022
The last time Harry brought his family to the UK was in 2022 for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. They also returned a few months later for the late monarch’s funeral. Harry has been estranged from his royal relatives since stepping down from royal duties six years ago.
William Feels Betrayed and Distrustful
Speaking to the Daily Express, Fitzwilliams said: “William won’t want to meet Harry, certainly not on this occasion.” He added: “He feels betrayed and doesn't trust him.” The rift stems partly from claims in Harry’s 2023 memoir Spare, which included allegations of a physical altercation between the brothers before the Sussexes stepped back. The Prince of Wales has not commented on the claims.
Possible Meeting Only If Unpublicized
Fitzwilliams noted that a meeting could occur only under specific conditions: “You can never say never. If this visit had been arranged without publicity, it would have been a sign that they might have changed, as opposed to the world watching and vast publicity.”
Harry’s Trip May Include Meeting with King Charles
Speculation also surrounds a potential meeting between Harry and his father, King Charles, which could pave the way for future reconciliation. However, William is expected to be far away during Harry’s visit, according to sources.
