The Testaments Season 2 Confirmed: Watch Guide

The Testaments has been renewed for a second season, and the final episode of the current run lands on 27 May. Here is everything you need to know about the series, including how to watch it in the UK.

Where to watch The Testaments in the UK

The first nine episodes of The Testaments are available to stream on Disney+ in the UK, with the finale arriving on 27 May. This marks a change from The Handmaid's Tale, which previously aired on Channel 4 and Amazon Prime Video.

Disney+ currently offers a promotional deal: six months for £4.99 per month, down from £5.99 for the standard with ads tier. The standard ad-free tier is reduced to £7.99 per month for three months (was £9.99), and the premium tier with 4K streaming is £10.99 per month (was £14.99). After the promotional period, subscriptions renew at the regular monthly price.

Disney+ is also included in Sky's Ultimate TV bundle, starting from £24 per month, which includes Sky TV, Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, and Hayu.

Plot and cast

Based on Margaret Atwood's 2019 novel, The Testaments is set five years after the events of The Handmaid's Tale. It follows three women: Agnes Mackenzie (June's daughter, raised in Gilead to become a Wife), Daisy (a teenager from outside Gilead recruited into the system), and Aunt Lydia (played by Ann Dowd), whose influence within the regime becomes central.

The cast includes Chase Infiniti as Agnes, Lucy Halliday as Daisy, and Ann Dowd reprising her Emmy-winning role. Amy Seimetz, Rowan Blanchard, Brad Alexander, Mabel Li, Mattea Conforti, and Zarrin Darnell-Martin also star. Elisabeth Moss returns as an executive producer.

Showrunner Bruce Miller described the series as "like Mean Girls growing up in Gilead", with a coming-of-age feel. The Independent's reviewer gave it four stars, calling it "Bridgerton meets Lord of the Flies, a young adult epic for the ages."

Differences from the book

The book is set 15 years after The Handmaid's Tale, while the series is set roughly four to five years after the original show's finale, making Agnes a teenager on screen.
