The stars are preparing to descend on Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall for a celebration of the best in British television at this year's BAFTAs. Hit shows including Adolescence, Amandaland, The Celebrity Traitors and Last One Laughing will be hoping to pick some of the biggest awards of the night.
Leading the Nominations
Netflix hit Adolescence is tipped to be one of the big winners after a headline-making year. The drama, which prompted a national conversation about online safety, is up for 11 categories tonight, including best limited drama and best actor for Stephen Graham. After scooping up scores of accolades over the last 12 months, from Emmy Awards to Golden Globes, the runaway hit is expected to be honoured on UK soil tonight.
The acclaimed drama is up for seven prizes on Sunday night, while sitcom Amandaland has four nominations in the comedy categories. Adolescence is frontrunner to win best limited drama, and five of its cast have acting nominations: Stephen Graham, Owen Cooper, Erin Doherty, Ashley Walters and Christine Tremarco. The scene where Jamie, played by Cooper, snaps at Doherty's psychologist, is nominated for the memorable moment accolade, the only award to be voted for by the public.
Presenters and Performers
Star of Taskmaster and The Inbetweeners Greg Davies will host for the first time, taking over from last year's MC Alan Cumming, who fronted the BAFTA Film Awards this year. Presenters of individual awards include Celia Imrie, Richard Osman, Jessica Gunning, Chris McCausland, Dani Dyer, Danny Dyer, Lennie James, Lenny Rush, Marisa Abela, Mel Giedroyc, Sue Perkins, Tinie Tempah, Nick Frost, Nick Mohammed, Paapa Essiedu and Rick Astley. There will also be musical performances by Celebrity Traitors star Cat Burns and Norwegian artist Aurora, who will sing her song Through the Eyes of a Child from Adolescence during the In Memoriam section.
How to Watch Along at Home
The biggest night in British TV will be underway in a matter of hours at London's Southbank, but viewers can watch along at home on BBC One this evening. Comedian Greg Davies will kick off proceedings at 7pm with the televised ceremony wrapping up at 9pm. Bosses will be hoping to avoid the controversy that marred the BAFTA Film Awards in February, which prompted an apology after a racial slur was heard during broadcast.
