The BBC has confirmed the programming lineup that will replace the black comedy series Two Weeks in August, starring Call the Midwife actress Jessica Raine, following its finale tonight. The eight-part series concludes with two 45-minute episodes airing on BBC One on Saturday, June 27, 2026, with the full boxset available on BBC iPlayer.
Two Programmes to Fill the Slot
Starting Saturday, July 4, 2026, at the earlier time of 8:30pm, The Weakest Link will take over the primetime slot. Hosted by comedian Romesh Ranganathan, the celebrity edition features contestants including JLS star JB Gill, actress Helen Flanagan, and singer Toyah Willcox. The show runs for 45 minutes, followed by BBC News and Weather.
World Cup Coverage Follows
At 9:30pm, Match of the Day Live: Fifa World Cup 2026 will air coverage of the second round-of-16 match from Philadelphia Stadium in the US. The broadcast is scheduled for three hours, concluding at 12:30am. The official description highlights Lionel Messi's milestone 1,000th career appearance and his 789th career goal during Argentina's 2-1 victory over Australia in the 2022 World Cup, with Julian Alvarez and Craig Goodwin also featuring prominently.
