Beyoncé Surprises Fans with New Track 'Morning Dew (Donk)'
Beyoncé has unexpectedly released a new song titled 'Morning Dew (Donk)', marking her first new music in over two years. The 35-time Grammy Award-winning artist dropped the track during the Fourth of July holiday weekend, catching fans off guard.
According to a press release from her representatives, the song is described as a 'direct nod to her loyal BeyHive to commemorate the upcoming epic celebration of B’Day,' as reported by Rolling Stone. The release coincides with the approaching 20th anniversary of her second studio album, 'B’Day', which originally came out in September 2006.
Origins and Production of the New Track
'Morning Dew (Donk)' was reportedly originally intended for the 2006 album but was left off the final tracklist. The song was co-written by Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams, The-Dream, and Darius Dixon, with production handled by Beyoncé and Williams.
The release includes a lyric video featuring two-decade-old footage shot by photographer Cliff Watts, who also captured Beyoncé for her 2007 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover.
Part of a 20th Anniversary Reissue
The new single will appear on an upcoming 20th anniversary reissue of 'B’Day'. No further details about the reissue have been announced yet. The original album included hits like 'Deja Vu', 'Irreplaceable', and 'Ring the Alarm'. It became Beyoncé's second number one album and won Best Contemporary R&B Album at the 2007 Grammy Awards.
First New Music Since 'Cowboy Carter'
'Morning Dew (Donk)' is Beyoncé's first new music since her 2024 album 'Cowboy Carter', which featured collaborations with country stars Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, and Shaboozey. That album debuted at number one in multiple countries and became her first to top the Top Country Albums chart.
To support 'Cowboy Carter', Beyoncé embarked on the Cowboy Carter Tour, which included a six-night residency at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in June 2025.
