Corrie Stars Enjoy Night Out at Something Rotten Premiere

Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley, who plays Eva Price, has quipped 'they let us out sometimes' as she and several co-stars swapped the cobbles for a night out in Manchester. The group attended the UK premiere of the comedy musical Something Rotten at Manchester's Opera House, which officially opened earlier this week.

Star-Studded Night Out

The musical, set in Shakespearean times and featuring a series of song and dance numbers, stars Manchester's own Jason Manford as the leading man. It had its world premiere on Broadway in New York and is now in Manchester for a month-long run, with hopes of a transfer to the West End. Former Coronation Street actor Richard Fleeshman, now a theatre favourite, also stars in the production.

Alongside Catherine, the Corrie contingent included Gareth Pierce, Harriet Bibby, Jodie Prenger, Tony Maudsley, and Amy Robbins. The group enjoyed a pre-theatre meal before walking the red carpet.

Side Note: So lucky to work with such beautiful people each day.' Return to the Cobbles

Catherine returned to Coronation Street in October after a seven-year absence. She explained her decision to the Daily Mail, saying: 'What Kate Brooks our wonderful producer has done is bring back an old school Corrie feeling. She is super passionate about that and she is a big Corrie fan and that was one of the reasons I agreed to come back, was because of her vision for the show and where she wanted to take it.'

She added: 'Finding those character led storylines, with strong women at the forefront is something Corrie has always done so well and that the audience seem to crave, and I think Kate is feeding that. It's important to move with the times but also know who your target audience is, everyone kept saying they want that "Old school Corrie vibe, we want it be character led" and I feel the show is nailing that.'
