Death in Paradise has been pulled from its usual Friday night slot on BBC One, much to the dismay of fans. The sixth episode of the current series will now air on Monday, March 9, due to live FA Cup coverage featuring Wolverhampton Wanderers against Liverpool.
The BBC announced the schedule change on Instagram, stating: “Some news about next week's episode: you'll be able to watch episode 6 on BBC iPlayer from Friday, but the BBC One broadcast has moved to Monday 9th March. Which does mean you get another double-Paradise week, on the bright side!”
However, many viewers were not pleased. One fan commented: “Everyone who pays for the TV licence has access to the iPlayer and the Red Button. Put the sports over there. No one cares about ratings anymore.” Another added: “The #BBC should put the football on one of their other channels. Not everyone likes football.”
This is not the first time Death in Paradise has been moved this series; an episode was also removed from its usual slot in early February. The latest episode ended on a cliffhanger, with DI Mervin Wilson (Don Gilet) waking up tied to a chair in an unfamiliar house, exclaiming “What the hell is going on?” and identifying his captor.
