Serena's Mysterious Arrival
Serena first appeared in the village last week when she stopped her car to use the bathroom, startling Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins), who was in a dark state of mind. Charity confided in Serena about Dr. Todd (Caroline Harker) and baby Leyla, and Serena listened intently before driving into the village. There, she learned that Robert Sugden runs Emmerdale Farm.
Homeless and Related to the Sugdens
Serena has since revealed she is homeless, living out of her car, and is related to the Sugden family: her granddad was Robert's dad's cousin. During Tuesday's double bill (June 30), Serena was invited to stay with Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) after bonding at The Woolpack. However, when the subject of John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) came up, Serena confirmed she knew he was a serial killer, leaving Sarah defensive.
In a conversation with Claudette Anderson (Flo Wilson), Serena asked if Claudette knew John was a murderer. Claudette replied: "Regardless of that man's actions, I won't speak ill of the dead." Serena then pressed: "Were you good friends? Was he good at his job?" Claudette hit back: "Why do you want to know?" Serena answered: "Interesting, finding out your cousin is a legit murderer, I want to fill in the gaps."
