A beloved reality series hailed as "iconic" is now available to stream for free, but fans are desperate for its revival. The ITV2 programme Ibiza Weekender first aired in 2013 under the name The Magaluf Weekender, quickly becoming a hit with viewers thanks to its wild reps and party-mad cast.
Show History and Format
The show moved to Ibiza in 2015 and even spawned a spin-off set in Kavos. It chronicled the escapades of a group of 18-24 year olds letting loose on the Spanish island over a weekend. For many cast members, it was their first holiday without parents, with cameras dotted throughout the hotel capturing every move.
Fan-Favourite Reps
A team of reps ensured holidaymakers had the time of their lives while having fun themselves. Among them was David Potts, who later won Celebrity Big Brother. He joined in February 2016 as a receptionist before becoming head rep, earning the nickname "El Jefe". The rep team also included boxer Callum Izzard, Jordan Davies, reality star Bethan Kershaw, and former Love Island contestant Chyna Ellis.
David revealed he remains close with former co-stars. Speaking to Heat, he said: "There are a good few of us that are still in contact. We've still got a group chat but I'm obviously very close with Ellie – who I did the first and second series with - I mean she's my best friend still." He added: "I'm still really close with Tash, Jordan, Callum and Isabelle and they all came to my surprise party, which was absolutely lovely. It was so much fun."
Campaign for Return
The programme concluded in 2023 after a decade on air. However, a resurfaced clip on TikTok sparked renewed interest, with viewers pleading for its return. David Potts was among the first to campaign, commenting: "Let's bring it back baby." Another fan wrote: "This show is ICONICCCC" A third said: "God I used to love this show" One viewer commented: "I just binged this show" Another said: "This show is so nostalgic" Meanwhile another added: "The best show ever".
