ITV's new six-part thriller 'Gone' debuts tonight, replacing the royal true crime drama 'The Lady' in the coveted Sunday night slot. The series centres on the disappearance of a woman, with her husband, a private school headmaster, becoming the prime suspect. However, the case proves far from straightforward as the husband seems more concerned with the conduct of the school's star rugby player.
The cast is led by David Morrissey, known for his roles in 'The Walking Dead' as The Governor, 'Sherwood' as DCS Ian St Clair, and 'The Long Shadow' as ACC George Oldfield. He plays Michael Polly, the headmaster whose wife Sarah has gone missing. His stern and inflexible demeanour makes him the main suspect, forcing him to reassess his life choices.
Eve Myles stars as DS Annie Cassidy, the family liaison officer appointed after Sarah's disappearance. Myles is known for her roles in 'Keeping Faith', 'Belonging', and 'Doctor Who'. Annie unexpectedly develops a close connection with prime suspect Michael Polly, while also deciding whether to restart her romance with DI Craig Stanhope, played by Peter McDonald.
Peter McDonald, who has appeared in 'Dublin Murders', 'A Discovery of Witches', and 'The Batman', portrays DI Craig Stanhope, a character keen to mend his marriage with Annie. Emma Appleton plays Alana Polly, Michael and Sarah's daughter and a teacher at the school, who is torn when new evidence emerges about her mother's disappearance. Appleton is known for 'Clique', 'Traitors', and 'Pistols'.
Arthur Hughes, recognised for Netflix's 'The Innocents', takes on DI Ivan Pemberley, who leads the inquiry but grows exasperated when DS Annie Cassidy attempts to intervene independently. The cast also includes Billy Barratt as Dylan Sedgwick and Higgins as Carole Bradley, the mother of a woman who vanished eight years prior, a cold case that continues to haunt Annie.
