Reese Witherspoon discovered an unexpected family connection during an appearance on BBC's The One Show on Thursday, 23 October. The Hollywood actress was joined by author Harlan Coben and actors Daisy May Cooper and Charlie Cooper to discuss their latest projects.
During a segment about book-to-screen adaptations, presenter Roman Kemp revealed that actor Trevor Cooper, who appeared alongside Witherspoon in the 2004 film Vanity Fair, is the uncle of Daisy and Charlie. The clip showed Witherspoon and Cooper in a scene from the movie.
Charlie explained that Trevor Cooper, who plays Len in the Coopers' sitcom This Country, had previously told them he worked with Witherspoon, but they did not believe him. Daisy joked, 'When he told us that he worked with you, we thought he was just a compulsive liar.'
Witherspoon, visibly surprised, exclaimed, 'That's uncle Trev?!' Daisy confirmed, adding, 'So he wasn't lying. I feel dreadful now. I've got a respect for him that I never had.' The actress recalled filming Vanity Fair as 'so fun'.
Trevor Cooper, 72, began his acting career in 1980 and has appeared in numerous TV shows and films, including Star Cops, Ivanhoe, Casualty, The Bill, Outnumbered, and most recently as Sergeant Aubrey Woolf in BBC One's Call the Midwife.
