Michael Phillips, a 38-year-old man from North Carolina, US, who believes he has the world's smallest penis, has been given a lifeline after a Beverly Hills surgeon offered to perform a $20,000 (£15,000) enhancement operation free of charge. Dr. Robert Dorfman decided to step in after hearing Michael's story, which he said tugged on his heartstrings.
Medical Diagnosis and Impact
Michael has been medically diagnosed with a micropenis, a condition where the penis develops normally but remains considerably smaller than the typical size for the age. He describes his penis as being the same size as the fingernail on his pinky finger. The condition has taken a significant toll on his life, leaving him single throughout his 20s and feeling embarrassed to use public toilets.
According to medical standards, a micropenis is diagnosed by measuring the stretched length from the base to the tip and comparing it against age-specific benchmarks. The condition is extremely rare, affecting only about 0.6% of people globally. While treatment is most effective when identified in infancy, Michael is taking action in his 30s.
From Crowdfunding to Free Treatment
Michael initially set up a GoFundMe campaign to finance an enlargement operation but reconsidered after learning about potential risks such as loss of sensation or erectile function. He then opted for injection treatments instead. That's when Dr. Dorfman stepped in, offering cosmetic filler injections that can increase girth in just 30 minutes without surgery.
Dr. Dorfman told TMZ: 'I understand how deeply personal these concerns can be. They can have a significant impact on self-esteem and confidence. If I have the opportunity to help someone feel better about themselves, I'm happy to offer my services at no cost.'
If the procedure is successful, Michael will no longer be able to bid for a Guinness World Record for the world's smallest penis. However, he considers this a small price to pay for improving his quality of life.
