Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) has been released from prison after Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) came forward with the truth, clearing her of Theo Silverton's murder. However, her ordeal has left her deeply changed, and upcoming scenes show her engaging in risky behavior that alarms her friends.
Summer's Ordeal and Arrest
Summer became the prime suspect in Theo's murder after she was the last person seen with him. Theo had threatened her life, saying, 'I guess Summer had to end some time.' Police found incriminating evidence, including her diary with fantasies about holding a gun to Theo's head. During questioning, Summer told DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) that Theo was alive when she left. However, Tyrone refused to alibi her to avoid implicating himself in Carl Webster's accident at the garage. Summer's plan to study in America further made her look guilty.
Desperate Act and Hospitalization
Fearing prison, Summer turned off her insulin pump in an attempted suicide. She was rushed to hospital, where she admitted to Todd, Nina, and Asha that she didn't think she would survive incarceration. The trauma also caused her to lose faith in God, as she tearfully told Todd that she felt abandoned after losing three father figures: Billy Mayhew, Paul Foreman, and her biological dad.
Tyrone's Confession and Release
After Tyrone explained everything to Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine), he decided to come forward, securing Summer's release. But her experiences have taken a toll, and her personality change is putting her in jeopardy.
Newfound Recklessness
When Asha, Nina, and Amy (Elle Mulvaney) find Summer at the bistro, she is already tipsy and hanging out with strangers she met the day before. She announces she's going into town with these 'new mates,' leaving her friends deeply concerned for her safety.
