Alex Jones Announces The One Show Summer Break

Alex Jones has announced that The One Show is temporarily being dropped from BBC schedules for a summer break. The presenter made the announcement alongside co-host Roman Kemp at the end of Thursday's programme on June 25.

Final Episode Before Break

After welcoming guests Ben Fogle, Kate Humble, and Martin Clunes, Jones confirmed that Friday's episode would be the last for a while. The show typically takes a four-week hiatus in late June and early July.

Roman Kemp said: "That's all we've got time for tonight, a big thank you to all of our guests." Alex added: "Tomorrow I'll be back with JB for the final One Show before our summer break. We'll be joined by Alexander Armstrong and Annabel Croft, plus Gavin and Stacey stars Joanna Page and Mathew Horne."

On-Air Swear Sparks Apology

Earlier in the programme, Martin Clunes dropped an expletive while discussing the American adaptation of his ITV series Doc Martin. After a preview clip aired, Clunes commented on Josh Charles's portrayal: "He's completely done his own thing, much nicer than me, less awkward and abrasive... he's warm and better-looking."

Reacting to a scene in the preview, Clunes said: "I was just looking at that bit... they wouldn't let me call the dog the son of a b***h, which I thought was funny." The studio erupted in laughter, and Roman Kemp quickly apologised: "I have to apologise quickly." Alex Jones playfully scolded Clunes: "You've been on a hundred times!" The actor defended himself, turning to Ben Fogle and saying: "He's a vet… it's a female dog!"

Show's Regular Schedule

The One Show airs weeknights from 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer. The summer break is a routine annual occurrence, with the show returning after approximately four weeks.
