Gary Barlow Says Take That Circus Tour Won't Return Due to Physical Demands
Gary Barlow: Take That Circus Tour Won't Return

Gary Barlow has confirmed that Take That's Circus Live tour will not return after its final show in Dublin on July 5, 2026, telling fans he "just can't see a way I could physically do this show again" at age 55.

The 17-date tour, a follow-up to the original 2009 Circus Live tour that attracted over a million spectators, concluded yesterday. Barlow posted a message on X stating that while previous tours left room for a return, this one feels final. He wrote: "With the other tours, it's always comforting to know there will almost definitely be a next time. But I'm pretty sure this tour won't return."

Barlow Reflects on Physical Challenge

Barlow, now 55, noted the difficulty of performing the physically demanding show at his current age. "I was 38 when we originally did this show, and I have to say it's been a whole other challenge doing it as a 55-year-old. I just can't see a way I could physically do this show again." He added that he leaves The Circus "with an extremely heavy heart" but is looking forward to "our next exciting, brand new show."

The Circus Live is an intensely physical spectacle featuring dancers, trapeze performers, clowns, tightrope walkers, and roller skaters, with the band even participating in a unicycle routine. Barlow had previously called it "Best tour ever - to say that 35 years into our career is saying something."

Fan Reactions and Tour Background

Fans expressed gratitude for the revival, with one posting: "Thank you for bringing back The Circus, and letting us relive it and run away with it one last time and this time my kids got to see just how amazing this show was they loved it so Thank you. I cannot wait for the next chapter."

Take That Presents: The Circus Live originally marked the band's seventh tour in 2009, supporting their album The Circus. The 2026 version featured Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, and Howard Donald, with support from Belinda Carlisle and The Script. Jason Orange, who left the band in 2014, was absent.
