Milford Waterfront in Pembrokeshire is offering a packed programme of free and low-cost family activities throughout the summer school holidays, including festivals, outdoor cinema, and dedicated teen sessions.
Summer Highlights and Events
The highlight of the summer calendar is the Milford Waterfront Weekender, taking place from 14 to 16 August, when Mackerel Quay will host three days of street food from Pembrokeshire and South West Wales alongside live music from midday into the evening.
Film fans can enjoy outdoor cinema screenings on the waterfront in partnership with the Torch Theatre. Finding Nemo and Back to the Future will be shown on 17 July, with arrivals at 1.30pm and 6pm, followed by The Greatest Showman on 21 August at 6pm. Tickets cost from £12 per person or £44 for groups of four.
Free Teen Activities and Family Attractions
Teenagers have their own dedicated programme with free Under the Bridge sessions for 11 to 17-year-olds. Running every Tuesday and Friday from 6pm to 8pm between 21 July and 28 August, the free sessions include arts, music, sports activities and inflatable games.
Away from the events, families can explore Milford Haven Museum to discover the area's maritime heritage. Entry costs £4.50 for adults, £3.50 for children and is free for under-fives. The museum tells the story of Milford Haven and its proud maritime heritage, covering the Nantucket Quaker Whalers, the fishing industry, and the town's role in meeting the world’s energy demands.
Waterfront Shopping and Dining
Wander further along the waterfront to find boutique shopping, cafes, seafood restaurants and a chocolate shop. Families wanting to get out on the water can hire a stand-up paddleboard or kayak, or join a guided tour with Milford Beach Activity Centre, priced from £15.
This local business operates out of a blue shipping container overlooking Milford Beach and offers guided tours, stand-up paddleboard rentals, and kayak hire. Guided tours of the estuary provide insight into the area's history, including the Vikings who settled here, the Welsh fishing industry, military connections, and past industries.
Indoor Activities and Accommodation
There is plenty to do indoors as well. The nationally acclaimed Waterfront Gallery is hosting free exhibitions throughout the summer, while Phoenix Bowl offers ten-pin bowling, indoor play and themed events, with prices from £7 per person.
For overnight stays, Tŷ Hotel Milford Waterfront is offering free stays for children sharing a family room with their parents between 13 July and 1 September 2026. Prices start from £74 per room per night. The hotel, managed by the team behind the five-star Celtic Manor Resort, has 100 bedrooms and a glass-fronted restaurant, Dulse, which serves some of the best seafood in Pembrokeshire. It was crowned Hotel of the Year at the Visit Pembrokeshire - Trade Croeso Awards in 2024.
Hotel Amenities and Dining
All rooms include free Wi-Fi, complimentary parking, tea and coffee-making facilities, Elemis toiletries, and a 43-inch TV. The largest rooms feature a seating area, waterfront views, and balconies. Family rooms accommodate up to two adults and two children.
