Kate's Emotional Family Reunion After Three Peaks Challenge

The Princess of Wales has shared emotional new photographs capturing her reunion with her family after completing the National Three Peaks Challenge last week. Posting on Instagram, Princess Kate expressed a 'huge thank you' to everyone who supported her fundraising efforts for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

Challenge Details and Route

Princess Kate, 44, scaled Ben Nevis (1,345m), Scafell Pike (978m), and Snowdon (1,085m) within 24 hours, trekking a total of 23 miles with an ascent of 3,064 metres. She also travelled approximately 462 miles by road between the three locations. Kensington Palace confirmed they believe the Princess is the first member of the Royal Family to complete the expedition.

Personal Motivation and Cancer Journey

Diagnosed with cancer in March 2024, Kate underwent chemotherapy at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Chelsea, West London. After reaching the summit of Snowdon, she said: 'Together, we can stand alongside everyone navigating life with cancer, ensuring no one faces this disease feeling unseen or unsupported.' She added: 'Cancer doesn't just affect the body. It changes how you think and feel and profoundly affects every aspect of life. I know this personally, and that the journey through and beyond treatment requires more than medicine alone.'

Fundraising and Holistic Care

Kate launched a fundraising page in partnership with the Royal Marsden, with all donations supporting holistic care at the London hospital. In a video before the challenge, she said: 'Lots of people have asked me why I'm doing this challenge, and partly - it's personal. I'm so grateful to be here, to be strong enough to walk these hills. But, more importantly, it's to give something back.' She emphasised the importance of holistic healthcare, stating: 'Healing, whether personal or collective, is not just about fixing what is wrong. It is about finding balance in how we live.'

Family Support and Images

Kate was greeted by Prince William, their three children, her parents Carole and Michael Middleton, and her brother James at the base of Snowdon. In one photograph, she wore her sapphire and diamond engagement ring, which belonged to William's late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales. Dame Cally Palmer of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust said: 'We are immensely grateful for this generous support that will make a difference to the lives of so many cancer patients and their families.'
