Eco Campsite Near Mwnt Beach: Perfect Wales Coastal Getaway

Mwnt Camping, a small-scale eco-campsite in West Wales, sits within a short walk of Mwnt Beach, which Timeout named one of the UK's 40 best beaches for 2026. The campsite offers ten well-spaced tent and small campervan pitches, a furnished bell tent, and a snug vintage caravan, all set in meadowland with two duck ponds and partial sea views.

Eco-Friendly Ethos and Amenities

Operating since December 2023 under the Eco Camping Club, also founded by the campsite's owners, Mwnt Camping is recognised by the Welsh Government for promoting outdoor leisure. The club's ethos, according to its website, is "to meet the needs of visitors who are concerned about the impact that their leisure and recreational activities might have on the environment." Their mission is to "promote the experience of affordable, ecologically sustainable, recreational camping" and to "enable people from all backgrounds to develop a deeper understanding of, and interest in, nature, wildlife & organic growing of food."

The campsite sells organic duck and chicken eggs from its pet flock, which guests can feed, and operates a polytunnel where organic vegetables are grown and available for touring and purchase. Amenities include compost toilets, showers, fridges for BBQ supplies, USB phone charging, a washing-up area with hot water, and a campfire area for cooking. The barn offers a lounge with coffee tables, board games, cards, and a community bookshelf for book swaps.

Outdoor games such as swingball, boules, and ping-pong are available.

Nearby Attractions

Mwnt Beach, a secluded cove beneath Foel y Mwnt, is managed by the National Trust. Visitors can climb the conical hill for panoramic views over Cardigan Bay. Wildlife sightings include bottlenose dolphins, basking sharks, and porpoises, especially on boat trips with A Bay To Remember. Seal pups are often seen from August to December. Nearby Caban Mwnt serves cheese toasties, ice cream, and coffee roasted at Tan-y-Groes' Cardigan Bay Roaster.

Cardigan Bay, described by Timeout in 2023 as one of Wales' most underrated stretches of coastline, offers harbour towns, fresh seafood, boat trips, and the Ceredigion Coast Path, a 60-mile section of the 870-mile Wales Coast Path with dunes, sandy coves, cliffs, and headlands.
