Residents in Nottingham have been advised to keep doors and windows shut following a substantial fire at an industrial recycling centre. The blaze erupted in the early hours of the morning, prompting a large-scale response from emergency services.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the incident on Alcester Street in Dunkirk at 4:22 am. Multiple fire stations were dispatched to tackle the flames, with crews arriving from West Bridgford, Highfields, London Road, Stockhill, and Carlton. At the peak of the operation, nine fire engines were on site, later scaled back to five as the situation was brought under control.
A spokesperson for the fire service stated, "We are currently in attendance at a recycling fire in Dunkirk. Please avoid the area whilst our crews deal with the incident." The exact business affected has not been confirmed, but Alcester Street is known for housing scrap metal recycling operations.
