Miranda Hart has arrived in the Scottish Highlands to film the second series of The Celebrity Traitors, marking her return to television after a five-year hiatus due to chronic illness. The 53-year-old comedian joins a star-studded cast including Maya Jama, Ross Kemp, James Blunt, and Richard E Grant.
Hart, who stepped away from the limelight to manage her health, revealed in 2024 that she had been diagnosed with Lyme disease, which led to ME/CFS and left her bed-bound. She has since recovered and is eager to return to work, telling the BBC: 'I miss the studio floor, I miss laughter.'
During her time out of the public eye, Hart also married her husband, Richard, a surveyor whom she met in 2020 when he cleared mould from her house. The couple wed in July 2024 at St Peter and St Paul church in Hambledon, with a Hawaiian-themed party afterwards. Hart announced the marriage in her memoir, writing: 'He's not my boyfriend. He's my husband.'
Richard accompanied Hart to Inverness for the three-week shoot, and the couple have been seen together publicly since the news broke. Hart debuted her wedding ring on The One Show and thanked fans for their support, saying: 'I've got my best friend to do life with, and it's wonderful.'
The Celebrity Traitors, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, sees celebrities compete in a game of deception and strategy. Last year, Alan Carr won for his charity. Hart's participation marks her first major TV role in years, following brief appearances on Comic Relief and Strictly Come Dancing.
