Bradley Walsh's Health Battle: 'It's Much Harder' at 65 After Doctor's Heart Warning
Bradley Walsh shares health update after doctor's warning

Television favourite Bradley Walsh has candidly discussed the increasing difficulty of staying fit as he gets older, sharing a health update rooted in a serious doctor's warning.

A Father-Son Resolution

In a joint interview with his son and Gladiators co-host, Barney Walsh, for Heat magazine, The Chase host was asked about his New Year's resolutions for 2026. An enthusiastic Bradley responded with a fist pump, confirming he had a clear goal in mind. "I want to get slimmer and fitter," he stated. "As you get older, it's much harder, but I really want to get fitter."

The interview comes as the BBC's rebooted Gladiators, which they present together, returns to screens on Saturday, January 17.

The Motivation Behind the Mission

Walsh's focus on his wellbeing is deeply personal. In 2022, it was reported that the 65-year-old had made significant lifestyle changes after a doctor informed him he was at high risk of developing heart issues. This risk is partly hereditary; his father died from heart disease at just 59 years old.

Reflecting on turning 60, Walsh previously told The Sun it was a "milestone", having been determined to outlive his father's age. He described himself as a "time bomb" due to overproducing cholesterol, labelling it a "silent killer."

Seeking Tips and Finding Balance

To achieve his latest goals, Walsh revealed he is seeking advice from the formidable Gladiators stars, has hired a personal trainer, and is focusing on better eating habits. "Less bread, cakes, spuds, and stuff like that," he explained, adding, "I'm actually not doing too badly."

However, the star also confessed to a well-stocked dressing room, complete with "cakes, chocolate and fizzy pop" and bags of Haribo sweets, which he jokingly deemed "important." He stressed the need for moderation, noting you "can't give up everything" and highlighting the importance of "balance." He claimed to only indulge in the "odd one" rather than handfuls, though he humorously held up three chocolate boxes to the camera during the chat.

Bradley Walsh can be seen hosting Gladiators on BBC One tonight, Saturday, January 17, from 5.45pm to 6.45pm.
